Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of representing PlanetShoes.com at a special event at the Women’s Lunch Place where we donated more than $10,000 worth of shoes to the ladies who utilize this daytime shelter. The gift would not have been possible without the incredibly generous support of Naot and Yaleet Inc. (Naot’s distributor); this spirit of giving is just one of the reasons
we love their shoes!
The Women’s Lunch Place is a safe, comfortable daytime shelter for primarily low-income homeless women, victims of violence, and women suffering from mental health problems and addiction. They provide services to more than 150 women and their children in the Boston-area each day, ranging from delicious meals and clean, comfortable sleeping quarters to access to individual advocates, medical care and computers. Both Scott, our Naot Sales Rep, and I were blown away by the quality of the facility,
the range of programming available, and the kind and caring nature of the staff and volunteers.
The highlight of the event was meeting the women and helping them select a pair of shoes. It was much like helping any woman shop – discussing her needs, style and color preferences, watching cautious appraisal of the shoes morph into joy when she finds THE pair – except that these sales ended with hugs or high fives. It was an incredibly gratifying way to spend a day.
