Father’s Day is here! How are you planning on celebrating the special guy in your life?
If you aren’t sure yet… not to fret. Perhaps the day snuck up on you, or you simply had a difficult time thinking of a the perfect way to spend time with dad this weekend. It’s a beautiful day, so why not spend it outdoors? Propose one or more of the following ideas… the smile on dad’s face will be astounding!
Find an outdoor brewery. For the beer-loving dad, find a brewery in your area that does tours and head on over to try a bunch of different brews. Who knows, maybe he’ll find his new favorite.
Visit a food truck festival. With the growing popularity of food trucks, it seems that every weekend a food truck festival is popping up in the area. Search online and find one close to you, then bring dad to try a diverse array of unique food.
Head over to the ballpark. Last minute tickets for professional or semi-pro sports teams are typically pretty cheap and let you into the game in the nick of time. For the sports-loving dad, search your area for cheap tickets on the fly. On the flip side, pick your dad’s favorite sport and practice with him in the backyard.
Tour your town’s historical sites. Every city or town has a rich history waiting to be explored. Look online for your town’s best historical sites, write down the significance, and visit them with your history-loving father.
Hop on your bike. Whether you visit the local state park or bike slowly around your town, a nice bike ride is a great way to get some exercise, bond over the local happenings, and soak in the sun’s rays.
Get on the water. If your dad adores being near the lake or ocean, plan an impromptu trip to go kayaking, canoeing, fishing, boating, or paddle-boarding. The opportunities are endless to soak up the sun and get a bit wet.
Check out a car show. If you find your father always talking about cars, let him peruse some beautiful ones in awe at a local car show. If you can’t find any in the area that day, take him go-carting! The cars might not be quite as gorgeous, but they’ll certainly be a blast.
Build something. There’s nothing that bonds two people quite like building something together. Whether it’s the beginning of a shed or a small birdhouse, head to your local hardware store with dad, pick up supplies, and get to work – together.
Run a race. If your dad is the athletic type, find a race in your area, sign up, and get moving! A short one-miler or 5K allows you to spend time together while getting your heart pumping.
Head out on the open road. Plan a spontaneous trip, get in the car, and go. Whether your dad loves the beach, mountains, lakes, or rivers, surprise him with an impromptu getaway to his favorite spot. He’ll adore you for it!
