As you can probably imagine, working for a company like Planet Shoes is fun. Working with shoes is pretty much a dream come true! So you can imagine how excited Teresa and I were to go to Hello Stiletto Shoe Club’s annual Shoe Ball to benefit the Accelerated Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis on April 23, 2010.
Hello Stiletto is a club for people who love shoes. Founded in Boston, the club has caught on and now holds events across the country. Hello Stiletto understands that while some of us may love fabulous shoes, most of us usually don’t have many places to wear them.
Through fun events, the Shoe Club brings shoe lovers together to support their shoe habits and worthy causes, such as the Accelerated Cure Project. The Accelerated Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to curing Multiple Sclerosis (MS) by determining the cause of MS.
Planet Shoes partnered with our fabulous brand, Poetic Licence to act as a Black Stiletto sponsor for the Shoe Ball held at the Hyatt Regency in Boston, MA.
Planet Shoes also donated two gorgeous pairs of Poetic Licence to the “Sipping for Stilettos” raffle, to raise money for MS research. Teresa and I were thrilled for the excuse to break out our own pairs of Poetic Licence heels for a night of fun, dancing and shoes – all for a great cause!
Starting off with a cocktail hour sponsored by Barefoot, Teresa and I were almost immediately (and quite willingly!) roped into signing up for the “Best in Shoe” Walk Off, the night’s big event.
We happily took our paddles, numbers 13 and 14, and began scoping out the competition. Shoes with peacock feathers, shoes with ruffles, shoes in red, hot pink, booties with studs, bows, buckles, glitter… every fabulous shoe you could imagine was on the foot of one of the attendees!
The competition was clearly going to be stiff. We stopped by the Dior make-up table set up by to get our “Runway Eyes” done by the ladies of the Lord & Taylor in the Back Bay. She did a fantastic job making us each look our best for when we’d be under those lights. Our make-up was ready, our dresses were ready, now for the shoes…
I sported these sassy pumps all night… and I loved every minute of it! The Poetic Licence Vintage Revival is simply fabulous. I am generally averse to high heels, but I couldn’t resist these ‘70s era disco-looking shoes (I love disco!).
Afraid I wasn’t even going to be able to stand in them, I tried them on, and to my surprise, they didn’t hurt or hinder my stride!
Instead, I stood almost 6 feet tall in the 4 ¾” heel and danced the night away. The layered leather, suede and man-made glittering upper gave my feet a fun look, and I was proud to strut these heels down the shoe walk!
The sling back pumps Teresa wore are so fabulous they’re almost sold out! She spent the night in the gorgeous Poetic Licence Spring Blooms.
Set in a leather upper with adorable layered suede leaf detailing all over the forefoot, it comes as no surprise she was getting compliments on them all night!
The contrasting fuchsia heel really makes the basil green leaves set against yellow leather pop. Teresa rocked the almost four inch heel, dancing the night away and owning the catwalk!
After the cocktail hour, the night really got underway. The ballroom opened and everyone took to the pink carpet for a grand entrance. Cameras were flashing everywhere and Shoetube and StyleBoston stopped all the fabulous shoes for interviews.
Once inside, the party began with an inspiring introduction by Hello Stiletto member and Young Professionals Accelerating the Cure (YPAC) board member Theresa about her experiences with MS, followed by dancing and auctions.
The “Best in Shoe” walk-off was a blast, and very much the highlight of the night! Most of the attendees participated in this celebration of fabulous footwear.
The room erupted applause for each walker, and each girl and guy exuded confidence as they strutted their stuff down the catwalk.
I did not envy the judges in their task of picking the very best – each shoe and competitor was great!
After some more dancing (including an epic rendition of the Electric Slide…) it was time for the big announcement – the winners of the walk-off!
I am proud to say Teresa won “Bad to Bone” for her amazing walk!
Not only did she get the crowd pumped-up while she took the catwalk, her walk was so seamless she was asked if she had choreographed it!
After the “Best in Shoe” were awarded, the winners of the “Sipping for Stilettos” shoe raffle were announced.
One of the shoes raffled off was the fabulous Poetic Licence Ocean View. Can you blame our winner for putting them right on?
This sling back peep-toe is set in a leather upper with a sexy ruched suede strap that gives this shoe a burst of color and funky look.
The contrasting trendy cork and man-made platform make the almost 5” lacquered heels more wearable, as well as adding an irresistibly summery look.
The other pair that was raffled off was the Poetic Licence Glitz And Glam, a name that truly does speak for itself. This peep toe bootie is set in a suede and fabric upper with adorable bow detailing on the vamp.
The one inch fabric covered platform offsets the almost five inch heel, making this fab bootie easier to walk in. This style features a side zipper that makes it easy to for you to get in and out. The Glitz And Glam adds a little something extra and a pop of color to any outfit!
We came to a fantastic party, we saw amazing shoes and Teresa conquered that catwalk – the Shoe Ball was a blast!
We enjoyed meeting other shoe lovers like ourselves, having an excuse to wear our most fab shoes and dancing the night away.
We didn’t even mind the hobble back to the train that comes with wearing such high heels for over five hours; it was well worth it!
The Shoe Ball was a great night and a great way to support the Accelerated Cure.
