Style Spotlight: Earth Spirit Texas

Dec08

Earth Spirit TexasWhen I was five I got my first and only pair of cowboy boots- I loved them to death. I wore them every day, they were particularly fetching with shorts in the summertime. Sadly, I outgrew them and somehow as an adult I’ve never been cool enough to own another pair. They seem a bit too far out of the ordinary for my regular every day life and more than a little pricey for me, but I pine after them all the same.
Then I found these- they are the Texas by Earth Spirit.

See, a cowboy, or western boot, but not, these feel like a playful echo of the real thing. Taking the classic look that we know and then changing it just enough to make it relaxed. These have a casual slouch, soft suede and contrasting leather overlays giving that western reference without being strictly a cowboy boot. I feel like I can wear them without pretending to be able to ride horses, it’s fashion not pretension!

The Texas is a bit shorter than the average boot as well, which works well for me. Coming to below mid-calf more like a roper boot, the Texas fits beautifully. I am also a fan of the rounded toe. Not out of place on a cowboy boot, it isn’t the more well-known look of the extreme pointy toe. I find the rounded toe more my style and I am less prone to tripping since I am incredibly suave like that.

Comfortable enough to wear all day running around town the heel gives me a little height without being extreme or uncomfortable. The Gelron 2000 shock absorbing foam lines the boot giving a cushion and keeping feet comfy. The soles are also a departure from the traditional, with a bit of tread and grip rather than perfectly smooth leather. These continue to help my efforts to look more coordinated than I am by nature.

At a lovely price just under $50 I can manage to indulge my western boot love and keep my wallet from getting too slim.
